Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jawhar Jordan at the 244th overall pick is 63 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. The Commanders paired the rookies with proven help, Brian Burns leading the way.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
A reach for Christian Mahogany in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Kiran Amegadjie went about where he belonged in No. 100. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Tommy Eichenberg at pick No. 107 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Tory Horton in the 113th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Payton Wilson at Round 5, Pick 8 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Ben Sinnott at slot 167 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dallin Holker at the 185th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Francisco Mauigoa at par in No. 228, which is nothing to complain about. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Jawhar Jordan at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
