There is conviction, and then there is this. The Commanders took Jawhar Jordan a full 79 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Jayden Daniels at par in pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
T'Vondre Sweat in the 36th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
T.J. Tampa in Round 2, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A conviction pick on Marist Liufau at slot 71 that the board grades a round light. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid sticker price for Kiran Amegadjie in pick No. 100, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Sataoa Laumea at the 107th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Ty'Ron Hopper higher than the 185th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jawhar Jordan. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
