The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Commanders reached some 79 spots for Jawhar Jordan, and value like that does not grow back.
Drake Maye gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
However the rest shakes out, DeJean at that price is a win they earned.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Jordan Morgan at pick 36 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kingsley Suamataia well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cooper DeJean in Round 3, Pick 7 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reach on Beau Brade in slot 100; the board had better options right there. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They paid up for Junior Colson at pick No. 108 when waiting would have done the job. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They reached a country mile for Ty'Ron Hopper at No. 144, and the board is aghast. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dallin Holker in pick No. 185, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jawhar Jordan in slot 228 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
