The tape said wait; the Steelers did not. Riley Mahlman went at slot 230, a good 62 picks before the board was ready. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Scott at that price is a win they earned.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
