They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jack Kelly, 38 picks early at No. 218. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Lee III pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick 31 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Anthony Hill Jr. in slot 63 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaishawn Barham at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A safety of that caliber at the 112th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Circle this one: Darrell Jackson Jr. at No. 125 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Will Lee III at the 152nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Keagen Trost at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Caleb Douglas in the 180th overall pick, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Jack Kelly at pick No. 218, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
