You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a downhill hitter at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Good price on Quinyon Mitchell in the 41st overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Christian Mahogany, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Bucky Irving at slot 92 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
