After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Dolphins committed. Cam Ward is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
The Moore pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade. The biggest hole, addressed.
Josh Conerly Jr. at slot 60 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
T.J. Sanders at the 88th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Domani Jackson at pick No. 92 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Dylan Fairchild in Round 4, Pick 22 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Malachi Moore, who had no business lasting to No. 131. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They liked Francisco Mauigoa enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 205. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach for Oronde Gadsden II in the 212th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
