The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 233 on Trajan Jeffcoat a full 42 spots early. Too much went sideways, and the D+ is the honest tally.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Flournoy.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
In No. 11 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In slot 23 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 24th pick they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
They read the board right and Keon Coleman was the payoff at the 56th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ray Davis in pick No. 87 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Brenden Rice at Round 4, Pick 1 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Travis in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Ryan Flournoy was still sitting there in slot 216, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wild overpay on Trajan Jeffcoat in the 233rd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jowon Briggs. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tyler Owens in the 244th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
