The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
They banked enough surplus on Rice to cover a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Ratledge pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value.
No drama and no debate, Keon Coleman went about where he belonged in pick 38. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in the 47th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Kamren Kinchens at No. 70, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tate Ratledge at pick No. 106 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Brenden Rice in slot 143, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They read the board right and LaDarius Henderson was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 9. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
