The rest of the league will want that one back. Kyle Kennard tumbling to the Cowboys in Round 7, Pick 31 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They are betting Thornton Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.20 · Pick 20 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 18
In No. 20 they get a downhill hitter at safety. Need was not the driver here.
R1.21 · Pick 21 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 20
In pick No. 21 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
Taking Ashton Jeanty in pick 48 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Dylan Sampson · RB · rank 65
Dylan Sampson slipping to slot 76 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Walter Nolen · DT · rank 17
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Walter Nolen in the 81st pick, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 35
They will replay Wyatt Milum at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 94
Dylan Fairchild at the 84th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.21 · Pick 85 · Jack Bech · WR · rank 71
Jack Bech is a better player than Round 3, Pick 21 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Savion Williams · WR · rank 98
Savion Williams in pick No. 98 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 40
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to the 99th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.17 · Pick 118 · Jahdae Barron · CB · rank 12
Circle this one: Jahdae Barron at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.19 · Pick 120 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 105
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cam Skattebo at the 120th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.37 · Pick 138 · Jaxson Dart · QB · rank 58
Jaxson Dart in pick 138 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.38 · Pick 139 · Trey Amos · CB · rank 50
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 139 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 56
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Alfred Collins reach Round 5, Pick 11 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
R5.15 · Pick 154 · Tyler Shough · QB · rank 153
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Shough at No. 154 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Dont'e Thornton Jr. · WR · rank 185
They paid a round early for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 170, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · Mason Taylor · TE · rank 82
Somehow Mason Taylor was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier tight end value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · Darien Porter · CB · rank 80
Steal is underselling it; Darien Porter at pick No. 174 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Malachi Moore · S · rank 95
They barely believed it either: Malachi Moore still on the board at the 190th pick. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R6.17 · Pick 195 · Armand Membou · OT · rank 32
Armand Membou in the 195th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · Demetrius Knight Jr. · LB · rank 61
Demetrius Knight Jr. at slot 211 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · Kyle Kennard · DE-EDGE · rank 76
Kyle Kennard at Round 7, Pick 31 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
