The Cardinals put a flag in the ground for Amari Kight, 249 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 16 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
They talked themselves into Jay Higgins at the 47th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dillon Gabriel this early at the 78th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Howard Cross III in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; DJ Campbell in slot 151 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
