The Patriots bet big and early on Tahj Brooks, 45 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
On value alone, Booker makes the weekend a net positive. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get a downhill hitter at safety. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Colston Loveland at pick No. 27 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on Emery Jones in the 34th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
