The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Quinyon Mitchell, the No. 31 name on the board, in pick No. 104. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Every board in the league had Jones lower, and that gap is the story.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Somehow Rome Odunze was still sitting there in the 34th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Christian Mahogany at the 68th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quinyon Mitchell at the 104th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board fumbled Roman Wilson all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Christian Jones in slot 182, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at pick No. 229 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
