The Patriots looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Christian Jones at the 136th pick regardless, 72 picks early.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
On value alone, Nabers makes the weekend a net positive.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.

In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Taliese Fuaga at No. 34 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in the 58th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Graham Barton reach slot 68 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value with a capital V on Christian Mahogany in the 89th pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on Darius Robinson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Christian Jones at slot 136 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
