They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The Jones reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Getting McConkey where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Brian Thomas Jr. at pick 34 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 68 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A clean, defensible pick in the 81st pick with a little surplus value in Christian Mahogany. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had cheaper options than Darius Robinson at slot 104, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Luke McCaffrey at No. 136 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Christian Jones in the 151st overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
