The Patriots spent real capital to be 74 picks early on Christian Jones, and the board is going to hold them to it. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Barton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Jayden Daniels went about where he belonged in pick 3. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jonathon Brooks in the Round 2 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Graham Barton at pick No. 68 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Luke McCaffrey well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Christian Jones at No. 136 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Kitan Oladapo, who had no business lasting to slot 182. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jalen Sundell at Round 7, Pick 9 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
