It is the swing that defines the weekend: Isaac Guerendo in pick No. 229, a good 66 spots before the room expected him. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. Getting Washington where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Graham Barton at No. 34 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid up for Christian Mahogany at the 68th pick when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in the 136th overall pick, with Malik Washington worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tyrone Tracy Jr. in pick 182, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A real head-scratcher, Isaac Guerendo in Round 7, Pick 9 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
