Thirty-one other rooms let Wyatt Milum slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at the Round 7 slot. Highway robbery. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The veteran additions, Joe Alt chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In the end it comes back to Colston Loveland, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
You do not let a tight end like Colston Loveland reach the 53rd overall pick and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Kenneth Grant at No. 55 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 56 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sonny Styles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Oscar Delp was still sitting there in the 98th pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: J.C. Davis still on the board at slot 211. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Circle this one: Wyatt Milum at Round 7, Pick 26 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
