The Patriots spent real capital to be 55 picks early on Josiah Ezirim, and the board is going to hold them to it. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Legette pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 10 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
The board fumbled JC Latham all the way to Round 2, Pick 2, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; J.J. McCarthy at the 68th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; Christian Mahogany in pick No. 72 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Johnny Wilson come to them and pounced at the 136th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Isaiah Davis in pick 182 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A real head-scratcher, Josiah Ezirim in the 229th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
