The Patriots fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B.

The Patriots did not so much draft Kaden Prather as overpay for him, 90 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The Delp value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Kevin Winston Jr. in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A quiet steal in slot 88: Oscar Delp for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Tyler Warren in the 92nd overall pick says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Aireontae Ersery in No. 98 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Damien Martinez at pick No. 125 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
They talked themselves into CJ Daniels at the 126th pick, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kaden Prather. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
