The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Tre Harris fell into the Round 7 slot. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Travis Hunter and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a press-man option on the boundary at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Somehow Malaki Starks was still sitting there in slot 34, and they pounced on premier safety value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Colston Loveland in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Kenneth Grant at pick No. 86 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Sonny Styles at pick 125 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in the 130th pick, where Aireontae Ersery graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tre Harris in the 194th overall pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
