Boards are made to be trusted, and the Patriots shredded theirs for Chris Tyree. He came off 72 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Milroe.
In the end it comes back to Colston Loveland, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a rangy last line of defense. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 30th pick they get a security blanket over the middle, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
In the 31st overall pick they get a premier pass rusher, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jalen Milroe in Round 2, Pick 20 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ashton Jeanty at pick 54 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached a country mile for Earnest Greene III at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Aireontae Ersery at slot 105 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Chris Tyree in Round 6, Pick 22, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Fair-plus on Jalen Travis, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
