They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Chris Tyree, 44 picks early at pick No. 223. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
In pick 31 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
Xavier Nwankpa at the 34th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tyleik Williams in Round 3, Pick 2 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quincy Riley at the 95th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Oscar Delp slid further than he should have, and pick No. 98 is lovely value for the tight end. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Andrew Mukuba at the 127th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Aireontae Ersery in slot 132 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Jaheim Oatis at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Chris Tyree in the 223rd overall pick, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
