They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Chris Tyree, 44 picks early at pick No. 223. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Will Campbell · OT · rank 6
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
R1.31 · Pick 31 · Emery Jones · OT · rank 33
In pick 31 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 50
Xavier Nwankpa at the 34th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Tyleik Williams · DT · rank 27
Tyleik Williams in Round 3, Pick 2 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Quincy Riley · CB · rank 92
Quincy Riley at the 95th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.2 · Pick 98 · Oscar Delp · TE · rank 88
Oscar Delp slid further than he should have, and pick No. 98 is lovely value for the tight end. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.31 · Pick 127 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 156
Andrew Mukuba at the 127th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.4 · Pick 132 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 129
Aireontae Ersery in slot 132 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.2 · Pick 194 · Jaheim Oatis · DL · rank 235
A big swing on Jaheim Oatis at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.31 · Pick 223 · Chris Tyree · WR · rank 267
This one needs a full-page explanation: Chris Tyree in the 223rd overall pick, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
