When a board-topper like Quinshon Judkins slides to pick No. 66, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Ersery reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with safety the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 7 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value.
In No. 24 they get a two-high chess piece, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nothing to complain about; Jonah Savaiinaea went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Booker at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 66 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Aireontae Ersery at the 98th pick, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy bit of business in pick 130, where Nick Emmanwori graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
