The Patriots torched the value chart for Raheim Sanders, taking him 36 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
They paid sticker price for Emery Jones in Round 2, Pick 3, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Booker at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Earnest Greene III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Raheim Sanders at the 99th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tahj Brooks at pick No. 131 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
Chris Tyree in slot 195 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
