New England Patriots

Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: B.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Patriots took CJ Daniels at pick 117, roughly 64 spots before his name belonged. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Williams where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.2 · Pick 34 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 31
Fair-plus on Kenneth Grant, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.13 · Pick 45 · Tyleik Williams · DT · rank 32
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Tyleik Williams for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Sonny Styles · S · rank 83
Sonny Styles at No. 66 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.21 · Pick 85 · Oscar Delp · TE · rank 129
They reached into another round for Oscar Delp, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.2 · Pick 98 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 115
Tyler Warren at pick No. 98 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.21 · Pick 117 · CJ Daniels · WR · rank 181
A wild overpay on CJ Daniels in Round 4, Pick 21, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.2 · Pick 130 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 119
Nick Emmanwori at the 130th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.2 · Pick 194 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 232
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Miles Frazier. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
