Somebody in pick No. 130 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Oscar Delp, the No. 72 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The veteran additions, Joe Alt chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Bottom line, with Malaki Starks leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
A safety of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kenneth Grant in pick 66 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Sonny Styles in pick No. 98, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Oscar Delp at Round 5, Pick 2 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
