The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 209 spots for Lorenzo Styles Jr., and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Delp pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Joe Alt leading the way.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Quincy Riley at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Oscar Delp at the 89th overall pick is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Sonny Styles in pick 98, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tyler Warren at No. 99 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.

They talked themselves into CJ Daniels at slot 131, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A premium they did not need to pay, Hunter Wohler a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
