The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tory Horton, the No. 61 name on the board, in the 99th overall pick.
The Tyree pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
A conviction pick on TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 35 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
They reached into another round for Elic Ayomanor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Earnest Greene III well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had cheaper options than Jaeden Roberts at pick 70, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tory Horton in the 99th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tahj Brooks at the 131st overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Travis at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A big swing on Chris Tyree at slot 195, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
