Somebody in slot 130 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Oscar Delp, the No. 72 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Joe Alt leading the way. They went 2 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Malaki Starks and all.
Pick-by-Pick
Malaki Starks in slot 34 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Colston Loveland still on the board at the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Sonny Styles in the 125th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Oscar Delp in No. 130 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
