You could see the war room lean forward. Quinshon Judkins at pick 113 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Joe Alt leading the way.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, with Travis Hunter leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
Travis Hunter at Round 2, Pick 2 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They will replay Malaki Starks at pick 49 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Kenneth Grant was still sitting there in the 59th pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Colston Loveland at the 68th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ashton Gillotte at slot 109 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quinshon Judkins in pick No. 113 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oscar Delp in No. 130, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
