You could see the war room lean forward. Graham Barton at the Round 3 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Brian Thomas Jr. in Round 2, Pick 2 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Graham Barton at pick No. 68 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Christian Mahogany in the 103rd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Johnny Wilson in slot 119 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 137 with a little surplus value in Christian Jones. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ryan Flournoy at No. 207 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jordan Magee slipping to the 231st pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor need, but a need all the same.
