If confidence were a draft strategy, the Patriots would have aced it. Josiah Ezirim at the 223rd pick is 68 spots clear of where he belonged.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
