The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Jones: B.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jarrian Jones, the Round 7 slot, roughly 95 picks past where he belonged. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

If Vidal pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 4
In the 3rd overall pick they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 25
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Amarius Mims for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
A big swing on Christian Mahogany at pick No. 76, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 117
They paid up for Spencer Rattler at pick 103 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.21 · Pick 121 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 125
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Johnny Wilson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Tyrone Tracy Jr. · WR · rank 150
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyrone Tracy Jr. a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.5 · Pick 180 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 203
A wild overpay on Ryan Flournoy in slot 180, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.18 · Pick 193 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 252
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kimani Vidal this early at the 193rd pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.11 · Pick 231 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 136
Circle this one: Jarrian Jones at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
