There is reaching, and then there is LaDarius Henderson at pick No. 193. The Patriots jumped the board by 91 and dared it to prove them wrong. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Mitchell steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Rome Odunze in slot 34 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Xavier Legette in Round 3, Pick 4, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Quinyon Mitchell still on the board at No. 103. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They liked Mason McCormick enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 137. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cornelius Johnson in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: LaDarius Henderson in slot 193, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dillon Johnson in the Round 7 slot. It fills a real need, too.
