The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Thaddeus Dixon, 43 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Wheatley falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Jordyn Brooks gives the group a proven body among the projects.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a green-dot type in the middle, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, reach and all.
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 104 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nice patience on Dametrious Crownover, who had no business lasting to pick 152. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Thaddeus Dixon at No. 177, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Justin Jefferson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, TJ Hall at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
