Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the B-.

Future A+

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Dolphins did exactly that with Jude Bowry in pick 90. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The Kilgore value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Dolphins indulged a want in Kilgore while a need in running back stayed open.

They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.30 · Pick 30 · Colton Hood · CB · rank 25
In the 30th pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Dillon Thieneman · S · rank 35
The board had Dillon Thieneman higher than the 43rd overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Deion Burks · WR · rank 85
They went early on Deion Burks in No. 75, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.26 · Pick 90 · Jude Bowry · OT · rank 128
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jude Bowry this early at Round 3, Pick 26. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.32 · Pick 96 · Connor Lew · C · rank 82
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Connor Lew at slot 96. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Caden Curry · DE-EDGE · rank 130
They talked themselves into Caden Curry at pick No. 97, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Jalon Kilgore · CB · rank 100
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 130 on Jalon Kilgore with running back unsolved.
R5.11 · Pick 151 · Eli Raridon · TE · rank 135
Eli Raridon in the 151st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.7 · Pick 188 · Keyshaun Elliott · LB · rank 217
They reached a country mile for Keyshaun Elliott at Round 6, Pick 7, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.21 · Pick 202 · Eric McAlister · WR · rank 195
Nothing to complain about; Eric McAlister went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.11 · Pick 227 · Nick Barrett · DL · rank 254
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nick Barrett. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · Jack Kelly · LB · rank 256
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jack Kelly in the Round 7 slot, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Luke Altmyer · QB · rank 243
A reasonable price with a little left over, Luke Altmyer in pick 247. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
