Good, not great, for the Packers: B-.

· 1 steals
· 2 reaches
For all the boxes ticked, the Packers skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will need Smith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. However the rest shakes out, Cooper at that price is a win they earned.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy little value on Jordan Morgan in the 41st overall pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
They let Edgerrin Cooper come to them and pounced at pick No. 58. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Blake Corum in slot 88 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Maason Smith at Round 3, Pick 28, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach on Jarrian Jones in pick 126; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Malik Mustapha at par in No. 169, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
