Philadelphia Eagles

More right than wrong for the Eagles, and a B to prove it.

The Eagles torched the value chart for Mason Fairchild, taking him 57 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Melton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. With interior defensive lineman and quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on TE-EDGE is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In No. 27 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 34
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kamren Kinchens in Round 2, Pick 18. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 39
Tyler Guyton in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Ja'Lynn Polk · WR · rank 55
A quiet steal in pick 71: Ja'Lynn Polk for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Cade Stover · TE-EDGE · rank 94
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick No. 97 on Cade Stover with interior defensive lineman and quarterback unsolved.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Max Melton · CB · rank 111
Taking Max Melton in the 137th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.27 · Pick 163 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 155
Braelon Allen slid further than he should have, and No. 163 is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 151
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jaylin Simpson in pick 172, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 158
They robbed the room for Jaylen Wright here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 183
Michael Barrett in pick No. 188 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Mason Fairchild · TE · rank 300
Mason Fairchild at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
