You could see the war room lean forward. Corey Kiner at the 222nd pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Reaching for Harris left real value on the table behind him. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Matthew Golden in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kyle Kennard at pick No. 69 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Jermari Harris at Round 3, Pick 13, and the board is aghast. A minor itch, scratched.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tez Johnson in the 105th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cody Simon slipping to No. 145 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jack Kiser at slot 219 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Corey Kiner at the 222nd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brant Kuithe in the 240th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
