The rest of the league will want that one back. Raheim Sanders tumbling to the Patriots in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Henderson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reach on Tre Harris in pick No. 38; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Charles Grant, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Azareye'h Thomas at pick 77 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tai Felton at Round 4, Pick 4. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Cody Simon in slot 144 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Circle this one: Jack Nelson at the 217th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Xzavier Henderson at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
