The Maxwell Hairston selection is the head-turner. The Patriots reached 27 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
The Stutsman steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Matthew Golden in the 14th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value with a capital V on Mike Green in slot 38, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Maxwell Hairston. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A reach for Ozzy Trapilo in Round 3, Pick 5; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in the 77th overall pick: Jaylin Noel for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Danny Stutsman in pick 106, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No drama and no debate, Mitchell Evans went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Tahj Brooks at pick 217 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Carson Vinson. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ty Hamilton in slot 232 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Corey Kiner at the 238th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
