This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Brashard Smith, the No. 104 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 4. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
The Jones Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get a building block for the line, reach and all. A real need, handled.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Emeka Egbuka. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Benjamin Morrison at pick No. 36 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyleik Williams at the 66th pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Kamari Ramsey was still sitting there in the 67th overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tight end of that caliber at pick 79 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at Round 4, Pick 2. A need, and now a little less of one.
Emery Jones Jr. at No. 138 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Lander Barton in pick No. 219, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They robbed the room for Brashard Smith here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Miles Frazier in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
