For all the boxes ticked, the Patriots skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was.
They will need Washington to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Milton III pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Joe Alt at the 3rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Guyton. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid up for Roman Wilson at pick 68 when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach on Malik Washington in Round 4, Pick 4; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had cheaper options than Ben Sinnott at pick No. 136, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Joe Milton III is a better player than slot 182 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Jawhar Jordan in No. 229 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
