Quarterback settled, Mendoza in the fold, and a B- for the Raiders.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Fernando Mendoza is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

On value alone, Everette makes the weekend a net positive. They will need Black to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher and offensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.1 · Pick 1 · Fernando Mendoza · QB · rank 4
They took Fernando Mendoza at par in Round 1, Pick 1, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Dillon Thieneman · S · rank 35
By-the-book stuff, Dillon Thieneman at the 36th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · A.J. Haulcy · S · rank 50
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with A.J. Haulcy while clear needs at edge rusher and offensive lineman sat open.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Domonique Orange · DT · rank 76
They will replay Domonique Orange at slot 102 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.17 · Pick 117 · Daylen Everette · CB · rank 81
Daylen Everette in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 133
No edge and no loss on Harold Perkins Jr. in the 134th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.35 · Pick 175 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 188
Taylen Green in pick 175 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.4 · Pick 185 · Kaelon Black · RB · rank 217
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kaelon Black. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.27 · Pick 208 · Riley Nowakowski · TE · rank 216
They paid up for Riley Nowakowski at No. 208 when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
R7.3 · Pick 219 · Eli Heidenreich · WR · rank 242
They talked themselves into Eli Heidenreich at Round 7, Pick 3, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
