Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Ethan Driskell, the No. 182 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 6, Pick 44. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick 57 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Kiran Amegadjie at Round 3, Pick 25 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Audric Estime at the 92nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dominick Puni in No. 125 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nothing to complain about; James Williams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid sticker price for Jalen Green in slot 203, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Omar Speights in Round 6, Pick 42 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Circle this one: Ethan Driskell at pick 219 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let a cornerback like Sheridan Jones reach pick No. 246 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
