The Aiden Fisher selection is the head-turner. The Saints reached 39 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. The Jordan Addison deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the back end. Need was not the driver here.
They jumped the gun on Germie Bernard, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Tim Keenan III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Jaeden Roberts at No. 136 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nadame Tucker. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They went early on DJ Campbell in pick 172, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Aiden Fisher at Round 6, Pick 9, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
