Thirty-one other rooms let Jake Slaughter slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at pick 75. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Every board in the league had Kamara lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 75th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Max Klare at pick 91 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Austin Barber at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Mikail Kamara at No. 127, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
They jumped the gun on Gracen Halton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
