The trade table was a mismatch, and the Chiefs were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
Reaching for Bissainthe left real value on the table behind him. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 20 they get a double-digit-sack hope, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
In slot 29 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Zion Young in pick No. 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid a round early for Bryce Lance in pick 74, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nicholas Singleton in the 109th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kevin Coleman Jr. in Round 5, Pick 8 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Albert Regis in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Zane Durant at the 170th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 176 with a little surplus value in Aamil Wagner. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Le'Veon Moss in No. 210 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bryce Foster. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Wesley Bissainthe at pick 256 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Barion Brown at the 257th pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
