Green Bay Packers

Larceny in No. 255 lands the Packers a A-, Dixon and all.

When a board-topper like Johnny Dixon slides to the 255th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not.

They will need Allen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Bottom line, with T'Vondre Sweat leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.9 · Pick 41 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 48
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 40
Kamari Lassiter at Round 2, Pick 26 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 109
This one needs a full-page explanation: Braelon Allen in the 88th pick, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 66
Steal is underselling it; Mike Sainristil at pick No. 91 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Beaux Limmer · C · rank 124
Beaux Limmer at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 147
They jumped the gun on Tykee Smith, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 149
Circle this one: Jarrian Jones at the 168th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.26 · Pick 201 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 191
Steele Chambers at pick 201 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 165
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
R7.30 · Pick 250 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 199
Somehow Joe Milton III was still sitting there in the 250th pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Johnny Dixon · CB · rank 181
You do not let a cornerback like Johnny Dixon reach the 255th overall pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
